Our Charity of the Year: Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes

Each year, we select a local organization to benefit from the golf outing, games and silent auction held in conjunction with Promotion Expo. This year we hope to raise awareness, money and food donations for Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes.

For over 26 years, Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes has been the main source of emergency grocery/food assistance for hungry individuals and families in Kalamazoo County. As a food bank and direct provider, KLF, and its network of 24 volunteer-run, community-and faith-based grocery pantries, works to assure same-day access to food for ever-increasing numbers of local people in crisis. KLF also supports meal sites at Ministry with Community and the YWCA Domestic Assault Program, and weekend food packs for school children. Food resources are secured through foods and funds donations, no- and low-cost sources, and wholesale purchases to meet desired nutritional balance.

Play golf! With the emphasis on play. This is golf as it was meant to be played, for laughs and grins! Enjoy a great day with great people on a great golf course for a great cause. Your donations to Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes will make a difference in the Kalamazoo community.

What do you need to play? Just the $75.00 fee which includes your golf, your cart, your lunch and some chances to win cool prizes. Charity cheaters will also be available. You also need a sense of humor and desire to have fun.

What don't you need to play? You don't need any real golf skills. Knowing which end of the golf club goes into your hands and which end goes next to the ball qualifies you to play. You don't need a foursome to play. We'll be happy to team you up with some other fun people. (We try to make sure each foursome has at least one real golfer in the group.) You don't need to take yourself or the game of golf too seriously either.

This is one golf outing where the last place team and the person who loses the most golf balls win prizes too. Oh, there will be the usual prizes for longest drives, closest to the pin and first through third place finishing teams. But everyone will walk away with some cool items and the satisfaction of knowing that they have helped feed people in the Kalamazoo community.
